Traffic Management Officer

Job Summary

The Traffic Management Officer (TMO) is responsible for managing and controlling traffic flow at project sites to ensure the safety of road users, pedestrians, and site personnel. The role involves implementing traffic management plans, enforcing traffic regulations, responding to incidents, and coordinating with relevant authorities to minimize disruption and maintain compliance with safety and construction standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control the movement of vehicles and pedestrians to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow.

  • Implement, maintain, and monitor temporary and permanent traffic management plans.

  • Enforce traffic regulations and issue warnings or citations for traffic violations when required.

  • Assist in traffic accident and incident investigations within the project area.

  • Coordinate with local authorities, emergency services, and event organizers for road closures, detours, and traffic diversions.

  • Operate and maintain traffic control equipment, including signs, cones, barriers, and traffic signals.

  • Respond promptly and professionally to traffic incidents, hazards, and emergency situations.

  • Collect, record, and analyze traffic data to support improvements in traffic systems and congestion reduction.

  • Educate the public and site personnel on road safety regulations and traffic control procedures.

  • Prepare and submit reports on traffic incidents, road conditions, enforcement actions, and daily traffic operations.

  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, safety regulations, CIDB requirements, and relevant local authority standards.

  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the superior or management in line with business and operational needs.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum SPM or equivalent; relevant certification in Traffic Management or Road Safety is an advantage.

  • Prior experience in traffic control, traffic management, construction sites, or enforcement roles is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Malaysian traffic regulations, CIDB guidelines, and local authority requirements.

  • Ability to implement and interpret traffic management plans and drawings.

  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Strong communication and coordination skills.

  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies or high-pressure situations.

  • Willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, or extended hours as required.

  • Possession of a valid driving license is an added advantage.
